Digital Life Certificate : Every year in November, government pensioners are required to submit a Life Certificate to prove their living status.

This process often becomes a challenge for the elderly, particularly when they need to visit various offices or public service centers. However, this time, the central government has introduced a new initiative to alleviate the difficulties faced by senior citizens during this process.

Digital Life Certificate to Be Delivered at Home

This year, the government has decided that senior citizens will receive the Digital Life Certificate (DLC) at home. The Postal Department’s services will be utilized for this. From November 1 to November 30, 2024, the Postal Department will launch the DLC Campaign 3.0 across the country.

Under this campaign, postal employees will directly visit senior citizens’ homes to provide them with the Life Certificate, ensuring they do not face any inconvenience.

Operation of DLC Campaign 3.0

In a statement issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), details of the DLC 3.0 campaign operation were provided. The statement highlighted that this campaign will be conducted in collaboration with district post offices, pensioners’ welfare associations, pension distribution banks, and the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). Pensioners can now submit their Digital Life Certificate at district post offices using facial authentication through their Android smartphones.

Digital Life Certificate: Door-to-Door Services Will Be Provided

According to the officials of the Postal Department, under this scheme, postal workers will go door-to-door to assist senior citizens in submitting their DLC. Extensive promotions will be conducted, using banners, social media, SMS, and short videos to raise awareness.

Additionally, UIDAI and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology will provide technical support during the camps, ensuring that senior citizens do not face any technical difficulties.

Experience of Last Year’s DLC 2.0 Campaign

In 2023, the DLC 2.0 campaign was held in 100 cities across the country, during which 14.5 million pensioners submitted their Life Certificates. This year, the campaign’s reach has been expanded to cover all district headquarters and major cities.

It is expected that more Life Certificates will be submitted this year compared to the previous year, providing better convenience and facilities for senior citizens.

Digital Life Certificate: Technology and Innovation

According to the central government, the objective of this campaign is to promote the digital empowerment of pensioners and improve their quality of life. Teams from UIDAI and the IT Ministry have been prepared to provide technical assistance, ensuring that no technical hurdles arise for the pensioners.

This initiative will not only enhance the convenience for pensioners but also support the Digital India campaign. Through this process, senior citizens will receive all necessary services at their doorstep, significantly reducing their difficulties.
